Megan’s first day of kindergarten at New Life Academy
Wednesday, September 6th, 2006Megan has been anxiously probing about when she would be starting school. We had to draw up a calendar for the fridge! The inquiries became even more prominent when we she had her uniforms. When the day finally arrived, she was very excited. She really enjoys school, and likes her teacher, Mrs Weiser. Mrs Weiser says she needs to learn not to put up her hand for all the questions. Megan enjoys recess, nap time and lunch with her friends. Although, they can’t talk too much during lunch time, since she so enjoys discussions with he friend, “Jordan.” Megan only received one yellow card so far, and that was for talking to Jordan. Her friend Jordan, however has been up to the red card before.
School is a lot of fun. There are way more boys and than girls (like 3:1), which of course suits Megan just fine since it’s 4:1 at home (if you include Sharona that cat which she does). Now, at school, Mrs Weiser places their names on different chairs every morning so they get to sit next to someone new. Well, occasionaly the boys get “boy-trapped” and the girls get “girl-trapped,” that is when you have a member of the opposite sex on both sides of you. For the boys, it’s a big problem, and I’m sure it occurs around three times more often with them. For Megan, “I don’t care, I was boy-trapped and I didn’t complain once.”
Megan doesn’t want to be walked to school anymore, but prefers to go by herself. A sign of independence I suppose, although, does it really start at five years old?
